This study tried to propose a correlation model between compression index,Cc, of clay with its liquid limit index, LL. A statistic probabilistic correlation model was used for Surabaya soils. The correlation established in this research gave a compression index, Cc, bigger than the one predicted by Terzaghi and Peck for soft and very soft clay, but smaller for medium and stiff clay. For practical use the correlation model still need further tests.Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia :
Studi ini untuk mendapatkan model hubungan antara indeks kompresi, Cc, dengan indeks batas cair, LL. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan model korelasi yang bersifat statistik probabilistik untuk tanah di daerah Surabaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model korelasi ini memberikan nilai Cc yang lebih besar dari perumusan Terzaghi dan Peck untuk jenis tanah lempung sangat lunak dan lunak, tetapi lebih kecil untuk tanah lempung sedang dan kaku. Untuk pemakaian praktis, hasil prediksi model korelasi ini perlu dibandingkan dengan pengujian lanjutan.
